New Regulation Requirements for Exporting Seafood to the European Union

The European Commission (Ee) has adopted a regulation (Council Regulation 1005/2008) to establish a system to prevent, deter and eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing which will affect seafood imports into the EU. The regulation requires that any wild fisheries products that are harvested on or after January 1, 2010 and imported into the EU be accompanied by documentation, a "Catch Certificate," in conformance with the Ee regulation.
