Fresno’s CITD organizes inbound trade missions provide California businesses with an opportunity for face-to-face contact with pre-qualified potential foreign buyers. These events have proven highly successful for many local businesses, and opened the door for long-term trade relationships. In the past few years, the CITD has coordinated trade missions with buying delegations from over 15 different countries including: Mexico, South America, Canada, China, Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, Philippines, European Union, Middle East, India and many more countries.

WUSATA 2016 Middle East Consumer Oriented Inbound Trade Mission

December 14-15, 2016 - This will be a great opportunity for companies to participate in the growing Middle East market. The Middle East is experiencing rapid consumer growth, as the seventh largest regional market for consumer-oriented products, the Middle East continues to outpace South America and South Asia as an export destination.

 Event Description  The Middle East is experiencing rapid consumer growth, as the seventh largest regional market for consumer-oriented products, the Middle East continues to outpace South America and South Asia as an export destination. The imported food industry is expected to grow by $35 billion in the next decade. Currently an estimated 90 percent of all food products in the Middle East are imported.

 Event Format   One to One Meetings: One-on-one meetings with pre-qualified buyers from Middle East, meetings will be about 15-20 minutes each. These meetings will be held during either the morning or afternoon sessions of the tabletops.

WUSATA 2016 Europe/Korea Dried Fruit & Nuts Inbound Trade Mission

December 5-9, 2016 - This will be a great opportunity for companies to participate in the growing Europe/Korea market. (Europe) Europe is the world’s largest import market for agricultural commodities and food.The EU is a net importer of most dried fruits and nuts. The market for these products is sustained by the thriving bakery, breakfast cereal, snack and natural product industries in the EU. (Korea) Korea is the 5 th largest U.S. export economy with $6.6 billion in imports in 2015. The U.S. remains Korea’s top supplier of agricultural products, and continues to see solid export growth in the consumer oriented industry. 

 Event Description (Europe) Europe is the world’s largest import market for agricultural commodities and food. The combined economies of the EU countries was approximately $16.23 trillion USD in 2015 (Gross Domestic Product), just slightly smaller the U.S. (Korea)  According to the Seoul Agricultural Trade Office, Korea imported $110 million worth of dried nuts from the U.S. in the first three months of 2015 alone. The U.S. remains Korea’s top supplier of agricultural products, and continues to see solid export growth in the consumer oriented industry.

WUSATA 2016 Southeast Asia Consumer Oriented Inbound Trade Mission

 

October 10-11, 2016 - USDA’s Exporter Guide to Southeast Asia reports that “while overall U.S. agricultural exports have experienced a sharp rise in recent years, the growth of sales to Southeast Asia has outpaced the general trend. This has been true for a wide range of agricultural products, and especially for high-value products.”

 Event Description Rising incomes and a growing number of middle class consumers make emerging markets great opportunities for U.S. exports. Southeast Asia shows particular promise. ATO China Shanghai Nut Buying Mission

September 26-27, 2016 - This will be an excellent opportunity for companies to participate in the growing nut market in China. China is the largest export markets for U.S. tree nuts. The United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Trade Office Shanghai Nut Buyer Inbound Mission will consist of site visits and 30 minute group presentations in Modesto and Fresno.

Event Description  China is the largest export markets for U.S. tree nuts. With 1.3 billion inhabitants, China represents 20.7% of the world's population. Shanghai is ranked as one of the largest urban areas in China with the best infrastructure and greatest number of experienced distributors. With increasing household incomes and food safety concerns, more consumers are trading up to buy imported foods.

This will be an excellent opportunity for companies to participate in the growing nut market in China. The United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Trade Office Shanghai Nut Buyer Inbound Mission will consist of site visits and 30 minute group presentations in Modesto and Fresno. There is no fee to participate in these activities. 

Participating companies are encouraged to be export-ready, bring samples and product lists to events, and be prepared to discuss pricing.

Event Format 
Site visit will be allowed based on meeting buyers product of interest and location being logistically feasible.  Group presentation will be scheduled in 30 minute increments in Modesto from 2-5 pm and in Fresno from 10-10:30 am.

WUSATA 2016 India/Middle East Consumer Oriented Inbound Trade Mission

September 21-23, 2016 - This will be an excellent opportunity for companies to participate in the growing India and Middle Eastern market. (India) With a population of 1.2 billion, India is the world’s second most populous country after China. A rising middle class and resulted in significant growth of the retail and food service industry. With this dramatic increase in disposable incomes, consumers in India are seeking out more international products. (Middle East) The Middle East is experiencing rapid consumer growth, as the seventh largest regional market for consumer-oriented products, the Middle East continues to outpace South America and South Asia as an export destination.

Consumers are also becoming more aware of the quality and safety of their food. Younger populations in urban areas are driving an interest for fresh and processed food. These new changes bring an exciting growth to the imported food sector and a positive future for US exporters. (Middle East) The imported food industry is expected to grow by $35 billion in the next decade. Currently an estimated 90 percent of all food products in the Middle East are imported. You do have to register for each buying group separately.

Event participants will forge relationships with potential customers/trading partners and gather market intelligence that will help them develop strategies to start or expand sales in this key market.

Event Description In 2014 U.S. exports to the market increased by more than 23% from the previous year putting the U.S. as the number two supplier of imported consumer oriented food products. There is an increasingly strong demand for quality foods among Australian consumers. This increase in demand provides more opportunities for US Food and Beverage companies.
