This project provides outreach and educational efforts on behalf of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) and serves the Fresno, Kings and Tulare counties.
The FSA provides many opportunities for agricultural producers to enhance, expand, begin and maintain farming operations. The FSA provides credit to agricultural producers who are unable to receive private, commercial credit. FSA acknowledges that “the diversity of America’s agriculture and farmers and ranchers many not be optimally serviced by FSA’s in house-outreach”.
In this project, the CITD intends to develop and implement an outreach plan working directly with FSA local service center staff in connecting with, and educating, all agricultural producers with emphasis given to ethnic minorities, women, new and beginning, veterans, urban, and those that grow non-commodity crops, i.e. specialty crops.
The project will provide outreach primarily through conference seminars, workshop training, e-marketing, online resources, dissemination of project information by partners, and one-on-one assistance by CITD, all working in cooperation with the FSA local service centers.
